Lake Turkana Wind Power (LTWP), a consortium of private investors, is concluding plans to invest in a Sh60 billion (US$760 million) wind power project.
Business Daily reports that the group is looking to generate around 300 megawatts of electricity which it plans to sell through the national grid.
The project is set to come on-stream by June 2011 and will offer much needed extra capacity for the country which is starting to face a power crisis.
Christopher Staubo, an official at the company said the project is part of an initiative by the Energy ministry and the Kenya Power and Lighting Company (KPLC) to help attract investment in power generation.
