Kenya's government is contemplating reducing the cost of tourist visas in order to stimulate the industry, The Standard reports.

While addressing the Kenya and the Global Financial Crisis forum in Nairobi yesterday, Finance Minister, Uhuru Kenyatta said a number of stimulus measures is necessary to get the tourism sector back on its feet.

It is expected that Kenya's tourism industry is one of the sectors that will suffer the most due to the global economic crisis.

Also speaking at the event, Kenya Wildlife Service Chief Executive Julius Kipngetich said that until the end of the economic downturn the country should focus marketing itself to its traditional markets and ditch the idea of promoting tourism to emerging markets.
