The government will allow the floating of property shares on the stock market – a move that will provide a major investment window.
The Capital markets Authority will soon launch the new Real Estate Investment Trust Regulations which will open up to the general public investment in the large-scale commercial property industry.
The East African reports valuers and property managers in major towns are busy preparing for the development, and experts polishing skills in key areas needed to implement the regulations.
The regulations will enable individual investors to buy and sell shares of properties listed on the stock exchange. Large investors will be allowed to raise money through the capital market, enabling them to invest in the real estate sector in a more structured
manner.
