Kenya Reinsurance Corporation Ltd has announced plans to invest in a hotel at Nairobi's Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, the Daily Nation reports.

According to the company, the hotel venture is part of its efforts to increase its revenue stream.

Kenya Re managing director, Eunice Mbogo said the project is still going ahead and that the company is waiting to be allocated alternative land. The Kenya Airports Authority is expected to give Kenya Re an alternative piece of land after it was declared that its current land is on the aircraft landing path.

Mbogo said that the project will be carried out under a public private partnership framework and that Kenya Re will only contribute the land for the hotel. Funding for the hotel will be raised by the company's partners.
