Kenya's government has entered into a public private partnership with a US-based company, Lemna International Ltd. to construct low cost houses in Nairobi's Shauri Moyo Estate.
The Standard reports that Lemna will build the houses and then be paid in phases after the completion of the project. The first phase of the project will cost Sh400 million (US$5 million).
According to the report, this project will be the first time the Ministry of Housing is involving a private company in construction.
David Anderson, general manager of Lemna said his company intends to use the housing project as an entry point into the Kenyan property market.
