Local and foreign investors have the opportunity to invest in wheat production in Kenya.

Wheat is the second most important cereal grain in Kenya, after maize. Cultivation is on a large scale and for commercial purposes. Kenya’s wheat production however doesn't meet local demand which presents an excellent opportunity for investment to fill the gap in the market.

The majority of wheat harvested in Kenya is used for domestic and commercial baking. Hay is also used as an animal feed

Advantages of investing in Kenya include:

Good climate: Kenya has both tropical and temperate climatic conditions which are suitable for the cultivation of a wide range of grains.

Affordable labour: The country boasts an abundant supply of affordable skilled and unskilled labour.

Market access: Kenya’s membership in regional trading bodies such as COMESA, the African Union and the East African Community provides potential investors with a large potential market for their products.

Incentives: A range of incentives are available which includes tax holidays, investment allowances and remission from customs duties.

Investment insurance: Kenya is a member of MIGA (Multilateral Investment Guarantee Agency), ATIA (Africa Trade Insurance Agency) and the ICSD (International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes). Potential investors are therefore insured against a wide range of non-commercial risks.

Good quality of life: Kenya has very good and up to standard living conditions for foreign investors wishing to reside in the country.
